Great video and content 🎉
Great informative presentation Thank you very much.
I’ve always found your videos clear and .concise. Being new to N.I.N.A. this is exactly what I need.
So just to be clear this is best applied before stretching the image?
alright but how fast was it sped up? what's the original frequency at?
Big help Shaun thankyou, Subbed Damo
Interesting process but it did essentially nothing on my image.
Beginner question... it needs to be super accurately polar aligned first, right? Thanks
is it possiblle that you do the optics also
Hi! Thanks that explains it nicely. Clear skies!

Hi ... I have an older version of GraXpert on my Win10 computer .... and I want to update to the latest AI version. I have seen that most people say that I need to delete the older version first .... but how??? I can't find any guidance on the GraXpert web site ... or anywhere else for that matter :-( GraXpert does not show up in the Control Panel/Programs list .... but I have found all sorts of files obviously linked to GraXpert on my C Drive ..... but I don't know if I should just delete all of these one by one .... or if there is a much better way of removing GraXpert before installing the latest version. Is anybody able to give me some advice about this? Mike
I think UA-cam shorts have an issue: they don't seem to be publicly dated and it's difficult to tell when a video is from. Some are a bit outdated giving future dates but for a previous year.
Hope you see this and can answer my question. Can I attach this while my telescope in racked in so at 0 and can I use the computer to rack my telescope out to the 60mm im normally at for focus??
Hi Shawn. I'm just playing around with "HaRGB_Combine" with my Lagoon Neb data (2hr40min of RB & 1hr2min of Ha) and was wondering ...... if I had some extra Oiii or even Sii data would I be able to individually add them using the "HaRGB_Combine" by merely changing the "Ha" in the equations to "Oiii" or "Sii"? I'm going to try it anyway and hopefully I'll be able to grab some Oiii and Sii data soon but the Sydney weather here (Campbelltown actually...) is rather unpredictable at the moment. I'm just getting back into the Astrophotography after a break and frankly if it wasn't for your tutorials I'd be going a lot more insane than people think I am..... Thank you very much. Dave
We’re up to version 3.1 now. The binning is hidden in the filter settings. Make sure to open each filter’s settings to make sure the binning matches your images.
Curious, I installed 1.8.9-2 and there is no Gradient Correction in the process list. I see @axelp1972 also does not have it with the latest update.
Update: I am wrong: I was out of date. I thought the "1.8.9-2" part was the version number. I failed to notice the date suffix.
Thanks for the video. Was going round in circles before this.
I just ran into this problem today! Lifesaver🤘
This is pretty much what I've been doing. Nicely explained. One problem I have is using this technique with a galaxy in the image.
Thank you again! I had to add comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS.
I did this with good data (12 hours OSC, 4 hours Ha, F/4 Newt in Bortle 2) but got pink instead of red. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Das erste Volksteleskop mit Nachführung und kompakten Maßen. 👍🏻
This was helpful. I tried both of these things without success, but I realized from watching the video that the problem is probably with my star atlas. This technique works at home in my office testing, but not in the field, where the star atlas finds nothing.
I always appreciate your videos. Lean, practical and to the point. Just curious: You mentioned a student provided the data. What do you teach?
Hey Shawn - I know it's a old(er) post from you, but I have a question about automating the Sky Flats within the sequence in NINA - I used Voyager in the past and we could add a skyflat routine as part of the script for the evening/morning. The script would calculate the time to start the dawn sky flats and then proceed. Does NINA have something similar where I can add a "wait" to a NINA sequence that will wait for the appropriate time to start the flats and then proceed? Or must I manually try and figure out the time relative to morning twilight to start it manually?
thanks man
This software is a game changer for my Astrophotography love it .
Would love to see GraXpert star removal tool. Thx for the video
very handy - hate the music though
Please don't use misleading profile photos on your video indicating that graxpert denoise literally doesn't work. It's literally an indirect ad to use noisexterminator instead.
Thanks Shawn. Not sure about others experience but it seems you have to run the Graxpert local install and use the 2.0.0 denoise at least once (to force it to download the ai model) before the 2.0.0 model would show up in PixInsight.
Thanks Dave. Yes that would be correct. I believe that's what I did. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video Shawn, but it only really tells us how aggressive the respective packages are at their default settings
Wow I can’t tell the difference.
Excellent video Does include denoise on this proces ? Or just stretching ?
Hi Shawn, I assume that your Ha data were obtained as a mono image? If Ha data are collected with an OSC narrow band filter, would the R channel from an RGB channel extraction work as a satisfactory Ha source for your process? Many thanks for the very clear presentation. Hank
Yes it would! The red channel becomes the Ha channel. Process it and add it using the same method.
My exact issue and saved my bacon…wasn’t an issue until it was and slight change to my workflow and problem solved
M31 i think is the andromeda
Works MUCH better than previous version and hard to see much difference between BXT with the few nebula images I compared. Very nice.
No SNR script. I'm not surprised. I've yet to have a tutorial from youtube work the 1st time in PI..
Hi Shawn, I noticed you applied 0.10 sharpening in the NoiseXterminator process (as you had done in the previous video}. I do all my sharpening outside of denoising. It would be interesting to compare both denoising methods without the sharpening applied. I realize 10% sharpening isn't much, but its more than 0%. Thanks for your videos!
Good to see Graxpert coming along with noise reduction, however it is so slow compared to NoiseX and NoiseX still is a better product in most circumstances.
How do the details in the galaxy compare between the two (before/after denoise)? Sometimes the denoise process can have an affect on details in the galaxy as well.
Interesting! It's now a head to head race. I hope that makes rc astro improve noisexterminator sooner, rather than later!
Awesome! Thank you!
I installed GraXpert v 3.0.2. GraXpert executes from windows but when I try to run it from PixInsight it get cx_Freeze: python error in main script. If I remove GraXpert from PixInsight the Process and Script links remain in PI.
Did you uninstall the previous version? And install the new 3.0.2 version. I had to do that with ver 3 and ver 3.0.1 - try it and see. Also make sure the repository urls scripts are up to date with the latest.
@@VisibledarkAstro I got a reply from DeepSkyForge that fixed the problem. Sorry for delay, I was on travel. This is a known issue in GraXpert. To fix that, you have to: manually remove old AI models (see locations below), Run GraXpert application and process an image (background extraction and denoising) to force AI model download. My Quick Start Guide gives location of AI models but in short: Windows: C:\Users<NAME>\AppData\Local\GraXpert\GraXpert\ai-models\ macOS: /Users//Library/Application Support/GraXpert/ai-models/ Linux: /home//.local/share/GraXpert/ai-models/
@@VisibledarkAstro I add a comment to this on Saturday and its not here. I did try the uninstall and reinstall, power cycle etc.

Very interesting, not supprised that NXT is still slightly better as it’s been trained a lot longer, but as GraXpert is free, then that’s great news for people who don’t have the funds for the Xterminator plugins…👍🏻
Great comparison Shawn Graxpert is coming on in leaps & bounds lately
Its outstanding, Thank You!!
Thanks for the update on this great project.
